Yesterday Karl Lagerfeld tweeted that we would see him like we'd never seen him before come this Friday. Obviously all sorts of images started swirling: Maybe he's taking off his sunglasses. Maybe he's wearing a pastel seersucker suit. Or a Speedo a la Giorgio Armani. Well, we don't have to wonder any longer.

The Kaiser will appear in French Elle, which drops this Friday, in a variety of very pedestrian situations--like buying laundry stain removers, sitting behind the wheel of a car in a traffic jam, and reading a sports newspaper. WWD reports that it's an 8-page spread, so we can't wait to see the others. Karl at an ATM? Karl standing in line at the post office? It's too good.

The spread, shot by him of course, features his lower-priced Karl line, which is modeled by his new fave, Saskia de Brauw as well as Caroline Brasch Nielsen. There's also an interview, which is sure to yield some choice nuggets. WWD has a few:

On grocery stores:

“It’s the first time I’ve stepped into a supermarket. It’s crazy — fascinating what one can buy. There’s enough here to easily gain 20 kilos.”

On driving:

“I haven’t driven since I was 18, and that’s a benefit to society because I ended up in a ditch, without knowing why!”

While he can occasionally seem imperious, we love that Karl has a sense of humor about himself.
