We knew Sally Singer was a great editor, but who knew she could also come up with brilliant ideas for nail art? Despite her typically pared back personal style, she's a nail fanatic.

We know, nail art is everywhere these days, but these designs, done for NOWNESS in collaboration Maki Sakamoto of NYC's Valley Nails (her favorite nail spot), are truly inspired--by everything from old ladies to Céline to politics. One idea she had, that sadly didn't make it into the shoot, was "left wing nails—a left hand with the symbols for different socialist parties on each fingernail, and the right hand could just be painted black"

However, she did do a sparkly blue manicure with a single gold crown, which drew inspiration from Kate Middleton and Chanel's spring 2012 couture collection. Another set of digits is decorated with a wood-like, beaded texture inspired by New York taxi driver's seats. Intrigued? Click through to see them all. Good luck DIY-ing these.
