Alber Elbaz
Elbaz’s name was next to be thrown in to the ring for the Dior job. Elbaz, beloved by the industry, seemed like he could be a natural fit, and when reports surfaced that the Lanvin team had been spotted crying in Paris during the Fall 2012 season, it seemed that perhaps Elbaz would indeed be leaving the label soon. Jason Wu, who was sitting front row at the Lanvin Fall 2012 show, was said to be in the running to replace him. Elbaz’s name was couched for a while, and in September it was reported that the designer had “politely declined,” because of his personal ties with Lanvin.
