A little birdie told us there will be some girly outfit coordination going on at this year’s Costume Institute Gala, which is less than two weeks away. The Vogue-hosted event will celebrate the opening of “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations” at the Met and we hear the hostesses–namely, Vogue editors, will be paying a little tribute to one of the exhibition’s subjects by following a strict dress code: they all have to wear pink.
We don’t know whose idea it was, but we assume the inspiration behind said dress code was Elsa Sciaparelli’s use of “shocking pink” — a color she became famous for. We are pretty big fans of pink here at Fashionista. I’m currently wearing a hot pink Crewcuts cardigan and I mean just look at this website. So, we like this idea.
We just hope all the Voguettes are communicating throughout the outfit selection process–could you imagine if two of them showed up in the same dress? It would be a total Brenda/Kelly prom moment. Actually, we wouldn’t be surprised if Anna had to have final approval. Anyway, for those of you who procrastinated on finding a dress, we scoured the spring and fall collections for some of our favorite pink pieces. Click through to see how our favorite Vogue editors might look in them.
