Brad Pitt Is the New Face of Chanel No. 5

It's confirmed: Brad Pitt is so pretty he's actually been tapped to be the face of a woman's perfume. And not just any perfume, mind you, the perfume: Chanel No. 5. When rumors began swirling yesterday about Pitt's new gig at Chanel, we were skeptical. I mean, the dude is following in the footsteps of Marilyn Monroe, Nicole Kidman and Audrey Tautou. Safe to say, he doesn't exactly fit the bill. But according to Paris Vogue, Chanel has confirmed in a press release today that he is indeed the new face of the perfume. That means he's the first male face of the iconic fragrance.

No exact date has been set, but Paris Vogue says we can expect to see Pitt in his new role at Chanel come fall. French paper Liberation suggests that Pitt will star in a commercial to air in the UK, and that he's being compensated generously--we're talking seven figures.

While Brad certainly has a multi-generational appeal when it comes to the ladies, we can't help feeling that the 48-year-old dad is a rather strange choice for the classic scent. Could it be that his fiance Angie might make a cameo as well? Or perhaps, as the Liberation suggests, Pitt's new appointment could mean Chanel is planning to expand their male sector.

What do you think? Is Brad a good frontman for the fragrance?
