Back in December, a pregnant Jessica Simpson told us she had a maternity line in the works--and now that her little bundle of joy Maxwell Drew has arrived, so has a first look at the new collection.

Jessica Simpson's maternity line will be available in 700 retail locations, including Motherhood Maternity, Destination Maternity, as well as Destination Maternity shop-in-shops within Macy’s, come fall 2012. The collection is the result of a deal between Jessica Simpson Collection’s master licensee Camuto Group and Destination Maternity, who will design, produce and distribute the line under the Simpson label, WWD is reporting.

"I’m [pleased] to partner with Destination Maternity to design a collection of fashionable styles that make you look and feel great," Simpson told the trade. "You want to wear clothes that are flattering to your baby bump; you want to show your bump off." For Simpson that means lots of skinny pants--including a pair of leopard print leggings--and roomy, pretty blouses. There will also be flowing maxis, form-fitting jersey knit dresses, jackets, blazers and chunky relaxed sweaters. The collection was apparently "designed with a vintage Seventies feel," though it looks pretty contemporary to us. The pieces seem comfortable, wearable and feminine--exactly the kind of thing J. Simps wore while she was prego. Though we'd be pretty shocked to find a pregnant lady that actually wanted to walk around in skin tight leopard pants. But hey, to each their own!

Like everything in the Jessica Simpson Collection, the prices for the maternity line hit the right sweet spot: Bottoms retail from $36 to $59 for printed and sateen denim. Knit tops are $36, dresses and blouses are $59 and sweaters and capes are $69.

FYI this is the 24th product classification for the Jessica Simpson Collection, meaning the starlet's billion dollar business is well on it's way to becoming a veritable fashion empire. Our bets are that a kids line will be added in the next little while--all the better for Maxwell Drew to model!
