Is it just us or is Kate Middleton stepping it up in the fashion department?

After heading out in a daring slit-to-there Roland Mouret dress on Wednesday, the Duchess is at it again, appearing in a teal Jenny Packham gown at Our Greatest Team Rises, a black tie gala that marks the final countdown to the London 2012 Games, the Daily Mail is reporting.

Hopefully this bold dress marks a departure into more colorful territory for the Duchess, who has been sticking to a more neutral palette recently. Also a departure? K.Midd has pinned up her signature long locks–all the better to show off the dress’s sheer lace back (below).

We’re glad Middleton seems to be moving out of her comfort zone a bit. The updo, too, is a welcome change (we love the braid!). What do you think of Kate’s look?
