Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev looked stunning at the Met Ball in her Donna Karan Altelier gown. We always figured getting prepped for the “Oscars of the East” takes some serious time and effort but on Conan last night, Dobrev let us in on just how much effort is actually involved.

She told Conan that her dress was made from actual “vintage gold metal”, and that she had to be sewn into the gown right before leaving for the Met Gala. Donna Karan’s PR confirmed this to us, and it’s not unusual for designers to do this to get a perfect fit on client for a big event.

But here’s the part that’s crazy: Dobrev also told Conan that she eventually had to go to the bathroom, couldn’t hold it any longer and so called…someone…who had an “emergency sewing kit” to come rip her out of the dress so she could use the facility (lots of champagne, you know) and then sew her back in. She said that “the designer” came to help her, but obviously it wasn’t Donna (a spokesperson has confirmed as much), who was also there at the Met Gala.

So who was it? This is an amazing business opportunity for someone handy with a needle: Bathroom dress assistant. You get to attend fancy functions and perform a very important duty, and charge a lot for doing it. Anyway.

Later on in the interview Dobrev, dressed in a very cute short suit that showed off her amazing legs, humored a request from Conan to demonstrate a yoga move called the scorpion. She flipped herself upside down, and well, watch what happened next. Conan seemed to like it.
