Beckham has been forthcoming about her shop ambitions since last summer, though WWD had previously reported that New York was a “likely setting” for her first retail location. While she’s shown her designs at New York fashion week and lives in the US with her family, obviously there’s a lot of brand awareness and name recognition in her native UK, so a store there makes sense. (It still makes us a little pouty that it won’t be in New York, though.)
And as far as the idea of setting up shop in Hong Kong? Victoria’s taking one step at a time:
“Asia’s very exciting to me, I’m just scratching the surface at the moment… I just want to take baby steps, build this business at a steady pace. I don’t want to rush, I don’t want to run before I can walk.”
Sounds like a lot of metaphorical walking. Let’s hope she’s got some ballet flats to change into.
