Ever since it was announced that Baz Luhrmann was remaking The Great Gatsby--and that the cast included Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and model Gemma Ward--we've been counting down the days until we can see the film, which quite cruelly doesn't come out until December 25, 2012. Happily, today, we get a little preview of what's to come thanks to the movie's just-released trailer.
The trailer opens up with a group of perfectly-costumed revelers partying it up and drinking champagne while their car speeds down a bridge into Mahattan to the tune of Kanye West and Jay-Z's 'No Church in the Wild', which sets the tone for the trailer's lavish party scenes and even better wardrobe.
Carey Mulligan is the perfect Daisy, clad in an array of flapper dresses, furs and, most importantly, barrettes and bedazzled headpieces that do the time period justice. For his part, Leo looks incredibly dapper, and seems to be perpetually clad in a cream colored suit. The rest of the cast, including Tobey Maguire, is just as well-dressed and though there's no glimpse of Gemma Ward in the trailer, we can only imagine she'll look ultra glam as a flapper in the film.
Considering the amount of talent involved, we have no doubt that the movie will live up to all our expectations--sartorial ones included. And we predict there'll be a slew of 20s-inspired looks on the red carpet in accordance.
