Neon‘s clothes aren’t for every girl and neither was the makeup. But if you have the balls to pull it off, we totally think you should. Here’s how:

• Makeup artist Lau Neves told us the look is all about “playing with colors,” so he mixed and matched bright lip colors with bright eyeshadows. The shimmery eyeshadow was applied in a way that respected the curve of the eye and was not super graphic. Gloss was applied over lipstick for a shiny look.
• Other than that, Neves used foundation but kept the skin looking natural. He also used lots of mascara and fake eyelashes in the corners.
• Neves says it is very Brazilian to play with colors and the look can be achieved at home–just use good judgement. “You have to be careful. Don’t exaggerate, and think about your outfit because you don’t want to look like a bird.”
