How to Make It in Fashion: June 21, Dream Hotel Downtown, New York

Best of Resort 2013, Part One

The Resort 2013 collections are trickling in from all of the fashion capitals and while we have no idea what our holiday vacation plans are, we already have a pretty good idea of what we want to be wearing. So far, we’ve been particularly pleased with what our favorite New York designers have to offer for the in-between season.

As we mention almost every time resort or pre-fall comes around, we tend to really like what designers put out for off-seasons because (excluding the insanity that is Marc Jacobs’ latest collection) it falls more within the realm of what people actually wear than that of a runway model fantasy. It’s also interesting because you start to get a taste of the trends that might end up on the spring 2013 runways. So far, we’re seeing a lot of plaids, colorful stripes, and florals, as well as pencil skirts and dresses over pants. We’re also getting a lot of ’70s and psychedelic vibes.
