Could a Kanye West men's line be in the works?
Maybe, according to Ford Models who recently tweeted: "Is Kanye also doing a menswear show this week in Paris?"
Obviously this is still just a rumor--Kanye's Twitter was uncharacteristically silent and the rapper has yet to confirm or deny if he will indeed be showing. However Ford Models doesn't usually make a habit of spreading gossip--perhaps the agency helped supply Yeezy with male models and the menswear line is mere conjecture. So far, anyway.
West's womenswear line designs have garnered only so-so reviews thus far, so it would make sense that the rapper-turned-designer would want to change track and try his hand at designing for the boys. We already know that Kanye has been in and out of Paris recently--he and Jay-Z performed there on their Watch the Throne tour on June 18 before wrapping up the tour a few days later in England--so it's not too far-fetched that Yeezy's been hanging out in Europe, readying a collection to show in the City of Light. Plus, back in February, A.P.C.'s creative director Jean Touitou told GQ that he and Kanye "wanted to do something related to clothes that’s not high fashion," and just a week ago the designer tweeted an image of Kanye's car saying, "Yé came visit APC studio." Could Touitou, the king of minimalist cool, be helping Kanye out with his menswear line?
And lest we forget, we first learned of West's fashion design ambitions from a series of random but persistent rumors. Hmm....
Given his own much-lauded personal style, we think Kanye could actually fare better in the men's department. What do you think?
We've reached out to Kanye's PR, and are waiting to hear back. Stay tuned.
