Perhaps H&M heard about how well Mulberry’s “Del Rey” bag was doing and wanted to get in on some of that selling power. It’s a somewhat surprising choice for the high street retailer, though, as their ad campaigns typically feature models–albeit big name ones like Daria Werbowy, Sasha Pivovarova and Liya Kebede. However, occasionally, they’ll use one for something special like David Beckham’s ads for his own underwear collection.
No word on whether Del Rey has designed a collection for H&M (though now that we think about it, we wouldn’t be surprised), but if the campaign’s being shot now, our best guess is it will run around fall or holiday 2012. We reached out to H&M, who told us they do not comment on rumors.
