The CFDA Awards, which you might call the “Oscars of Fashion,” are just a few hours away! In advance of the ceremony, we sent over some questionnaires to the nominees to find out how they reacted to being nominated, their biggest challenges (Snyder admits he doesn't think he will win), and sillier stuff like their favorite internet distractions (Azzuolo hunts for Inuit art online) and the first thing they ever made.

Last week, we heard from the nominees for the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Pamela Love, Irene Neuwirth and Tabitha Simmons. This week, we picked the brains of Swarovski Award for Menswear nominees Todd Snyder and Antonio Azzuolo, as well as Swarovski Womenswear nominees Shane Gabier and Chris Peters of Creatures of the Wind. See above for another exclusive look at the Trey Laird-directed, Craig McDean-shot CFDA Journal, featuring looks from Azzuolo, Snyder and Phillip Lim.

Swarovski Award for Menswear Nominee Todd Snyder

1. What was the first thing you did when you found out you were nominated? Grabbed my team and ran to the nearest pub.

2. What does it mean to be nominated? Its an honor. I am a simple guy from Iowa who had a dream to become fashion designer in NY. It makes it all real.

3. If the cfda's are like the fashion oscars, would would be on your acceptance speech notecard? (or would you just wing it?) I don't think I will win.... so I would just wing it. It's better that way.

4. What's the biggest hurdle you've come up against so far and how have you overcome it? Everyone has been really supportive. The hardest thing is the funding and getting factories to believe in you to reduce their minimums.

5. What's your favorite song to work to right now? My favorite song is always Ceremony by New Order. It really sets the tone.

6. When you need to take an hour break from work, what do you do? where do you go? I love to go to the Strand book store...I can get lost in there for hours if I am not careful

7. What's your favorite internet distraction (we know you have one...)? I am addicted to Pinterest and Houzz... I have file drawers full of fashion and interior swipes in my office that take up tons of space. Now I can store all my swipes on my phone that I can pull up immediately.

Swarovski Award For Menswear Nominee Antonio Azzuolo

1. What was the first thing you did when you found out you were nominated? Emailed my friends and PR office with the news....got out of my Birkenstocks and dressed for the cocktail party.

2. What does it mean to be nominated? Being nominated is a major accomplishment and mark of recognition from the US fashion industry and part of US fashion heritage…a great honor!

3. If the CFDA's are like the fashion Oscars, what would be on your acceptance speech note card? (or would you just wing it?)…. I don't want to prepare and expect to win, so if I win...I will wing it. Okay...maybe just a few points on a small card...just in case.

4. What's the biggest hurdle you've come up against so far and how have you overcome it? [My] own personal hurdles are the most challenging to overcome. All else, such as lack of capital, are circumstances.

5. What's your favorite song to work to right now? "I'm Running" Misstress Barbara feat. Sam Roberts...Opening song from fall/winter 12-13 show.

6. What's the first thing you ever made? A black and white houndstooth jacket with contrast back lapels for a friend's nephew. He was 3!

7. What's your favorite internet distraction (we know you have one…)? Waddington's auction house for Inuit art and a few others I'd rather not mention.
