It looks like Vanity Fair is going to have some sort of NYC tech power players feature in a forthcoming issue. Perhaps even a cover considering the number of people involved and the fact that VF tapped Annie Leibovitz to shoot it.
Apparently Leibovitz and NYC-famous subjects including (a very pregnant) Lauren Santo Domingo, Mayor Bloomberg and Arianna Huffington caused a bit of a commotion in Soho yesterday, staging a full-fledged shoot on a cobblestoned side street. The Daily Mail has some photos, too, and we spotted Foursquare CEO Dennis Crowley and Tumblr CEO David Karp alongside Huffington.
Our own photographer friend was on the scene and was told by someone on set that the shoot was about "technology," which makes sense considering the subjects. We assume the story will highlight NYC companies specifically (hence Bloomberg's presence) which is often considered secondary to the Northern California tech scene. Even if there are more tech-y things happening on the West Coast, we kinda feel like the founders here are hotter. I mean, right? Exhibit A: Moda Operandi's LSD.
