So, looks like American Apparel will not be doing Russia's 2014 Olympic uniforms after all. According to WWD, after "reviewing his e-mail," Dov Charney realized that he was in talks to produce Russia-themed consumer merchandise--not the team's official Olympic uniforms. But you can totally see how he got confused, right?

"I’m not as well educated on these Olympic matters as I should be. I’m in the schmatta business," Charney told the trade. Oops! Good thing he didn't tell a national newspaper that American Apparel was in talks to do Team Russia's unis. Oh wait...

Charney's admission comes a week after he told the Post that his company was in talks to create Russia's Olympic uniforms--and just three days after the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) officially denied the story. Speaking of which, this is what Charney had to say when confronted with the fact that the ROC contradicted his story: "I don’t know that every senior person [at the ROC] knows everything that’s going on with an inquiry about product."

Sure, Dov, sure...We wonder what else the CEO has gotten wrong....
