Summer Fridays: On Vacation with Timo Weiland

Alan and Timo on Vacation

It’s summer and that means on Fridays everyone should be sneaking out of work a little bit early to go on a weekend jaunt or grab a drink on a sunny rooftop. The fashion industry, which works really hard, also knows how to cut loose and play hard. In our new weekly column, called Summer Fridays, we catch up with industry insiders to find out what they do, where they go, and what they bring with them when they escape the daily grind. Last week we jetted off with supermodel Liu Wen. This week, we’re catching up with the duo behind Timo Weiland. Bon voyage!

This quickly growing label, started by Timo Weiland and business partner Alan Eckstein, officially launched for the spring 2010 season, but their claim-to-fame comes a little before that thanks to a little show called Gossip Girl. That’s right, fans of the show and of the up-and-coming brand will note that the neckwear that both Chuck and Blair sported in earlier episodes was from none other than this dynamic duo.

Since then, the business has grown exponentially at a lightning-fast pace; retail giants like Barneys, Harvey Nichols, and Fred Segal now carry the label and it’s been featured in major mags like Elle, Vogue, Glamour, the New York Times and more. Among the celebs who adore the brand are Andrew Garfield, Chloe Sevigny, and James Franco.

From having a toilet fall onto them to sleeping on top of a mountain during a snowstorm, we can already tell these boys really like a good adventure. Read below for more of their journeys!
