In anticipation of the September 12 launch of Nicole Richie’s collection for Macy’s, we’ve got an exclusive peek of the reality star-turned-designer talking about her line and what inspired it. (You can see the full collection and look book here.)
She says music really inspires her design–from classic ’60s and ’70s tunes to Rihanna and Florence and the Machine. But her musician style icon is somewhat surprising.
“The musician whose style I admire the most is Keith Richards,” she says. Wouldn’t have seen it coming, but it’s true–they both seem to love a good head scarf.
If this video is to be believed, Richie was very hands on for this collection, looking over patterns and pinning garments. She succeeds Karl Lagerfeld, Giambattista Valli, and Alberta Ferretti (to name a few) as a guest designer for Macy’s Impulse line.
Take a look–how do you think she did?
