Amanda Bynes is Retiring From Acting to Become a Fashion Designer

We know what you've been thinking, because we've been thinking the exact same thing: What the market really needs right now is an ex-Nickelodeon-child-star-turned-tabloid-mainstay to create a clothing line. And we're in luck--because People is reporting that Amanda Bynes, is designing her very own "fashion line."

We know what you've been thinking, because we've been thinking the exact same thing: What the market really needs right now is an ex-Nickelodeon-child-star-turned-tabloid-mainstay to create a clothing line. Yes, between various DUIs and hit-and-run charges--and allegedly performing a bizarre mid-spin class strip show at a gym in LA--Bynes has also found the time to do a career 180 and coast-swap. "I am retired as an actor. I am moving to New York to launch my career," she told People.

In spite of the fact that we can't recall a single outfit Amanda Bynes has ever worn, she did briefly have a line at the now-defunct Steve & Barry's in 2007--just like SJP! So we're going to give her the benefit of the doubt on this one. Maybe she's spent the last two years not acting (and as she claims, not drinking and certainly not drinking and driving) because she's been sketching out her brilliant fashion fantasies. Maybe she hit someone and then had to run because Mood was about to close in five minutes. And maybe New York will be good for her, since driving a car isn't really a necessity in this city. Though now we'll definitely be looking both ways crossing the street to Lincoln Center come fashion week next season.
