Last night Anna Dello Russo hit the Eloise boutique at the Plaza Hotel to serve up some confections--her new H&M accessories collection, that is. As we've already seen in her "Fashion Shower" video, the collection is not for shrinking violets. Seeing the pieces in real life, we can tell you that you're going to need to have a ballsy attitude to wear them. As ADR intended, we're sure. Here's a taste of what you can expect from the 50-piece collection: sunglasses adorned with huge gold alligators; ornate snake bracelets; ginormous necklaces chockfull of charms, gems, and a blownup, blinged-out, ADR-ized version of a nameplate necklace; thigh high boots; and Tiffany-blue suitcases decorated with gold filigree. And that's just a few examples.

We caught up with the editrix and street style fave and asked her about her collection, how the heck she gets all her clothes to NYC for NYFW, and Stefano Pilati's new appointment at Zegna.

Fashionista: Tell me how H&M approached you for this project. You’re the first editor to ever design for them, correct? Anna Dello Russo: When they called me I was thinking I’m a pioneer, because it had been only designers [who did projects with H&M in the past]. I thought this would be a good challenge to communicate fashion in a new way. That’s why I decided to do accessories. Because in the mass market well done accessories don’t really exist--I was thinking this is a perfect idea. A new approach. And I made the collection.

How long did it take to design? I was researching my collection of vintage pieces, then in six months we made everything. It’s inspired by vintage.

Did you show H&M anything that was so over the top that they said, “No we can’t make that”? (Laughing) No! They gave me complete space. I would say, "I want to do a hat" and they said, “Absolutely.” They were so brilliant with me.

There are lots of animals in the collection. Yes, my dog Cucciolina is on a lot of the pieces (points to a charm necklace). I love animals. It’s part of a long jewelry tradition too.

What is your favorite piece?
 The suitcase!

Speaking of suitcases, how many did you have to pack to come for NYFW? I’m the best client of FedEx!

So when you travel you just take one carry-on or how does that work? Yeah when I travel, I travel light, but I ship a lot of stuff.

What is the worst part of fashion month for you?
There is no worst part! It’s fantastic for me to be a part of this process.

Do you read any style blogs? You’re very popular on a lot of them. Every day I go to Style.com

Is there anything you would NEVER wear? Nothing!

Changing gears for a second, what do you think of Stefano Pilati’s appointment to Zegna? It’s fantastic! It’s an Italian brand that’s really good about quality and fabric. It’s so good for Italian style. The women’s side doesn’t exist really! He’ll start a new era for them. He’ll bring "fashion" to a high quality brand.

What about you? Will you ever design clothes? Never say never. But so far, no.
