The Clothes: Still new to Belstaff, Burberry alum Martin Cooper continues to breathe new life into the storied British label, taking inspiration from vintage travel cases and the sense of luxury associated with global voyages, to create a lush, but still highly wearable collection. Wide striped, linen and canvas shirtdresses, silk aviator jumpsuits, and sleeveless eggshell coats for spring were standouts. The palate was warm and neutral–toffee, cream and “latte.”
Hair and Makeup: Long, straight locks parted down the middle and natural, seemingly non-existent make-up.
The Soundtrack: “Swept Away” and “Chained” by The xx with orchestral interludes.
The Vibe: Serene, well-lit (the show was in the atrium of the Frank Gehry-designed IAC Building), and buzzed (model caterers served viewers Pimm’s cups in the lobby before the show).
The Front Row: Tommy and Ally Hilfiger, plus the key editors (Stefano Tonchi, Vogue’s Mark Holgate) and loads of buyers.
Celebrity We’d Most Like to See Wearing This Collection: The jet set, anyone with access to a yacht.
What the Line Sheet Said: “I was inspired by that time when moving from one point to another was all about pure luxury.” — Martin Cooper
