Mary Katrantzou, who last year took home the award for Emerging Talent in RTW, is now up for the night’s most prestigious honor, Designer of the Year. She’ll compete against 2011′s New Establishment Award-winner Christopher Kane, as well as Red Carpet Award-winner Stella McCartney–the award Victoria Beckham is vying for this time around. Newcomers being recognized with nominations for RTW include J.W. Anderson, Michael van der Ham, Simone Rocha.
As for the voted-by-the-public British Style Award? Two-time winner Alexa Chung has got some stiff style competition in both Beckhams, Kates Moss and Middleton, and …(Texas-bred) Tom Ford? Ya… we don’t quite know either.
In other British Fashion Council news (they on the BFAs, after all), WWD is reporting that founder and executive chairman of Net-a-Porter Natalie Massenet will assume the position of BFC chairperson, effective next year. We’re excited to see what changes she brings to the ever-growing British fash biz.
