Carven and Petit Bateau Team Up for a Super Chic (and Super French) Capsule Collection

In exciting news for our wardrobes this morning, two of our favorite French brands–Carven and Petit Bateau–are teaming up on a limited edition capsule collection, WWD is reporting. Francophiles rejoice!

The new line will feature nine styles for adults (both men and women), as well as children, and, best of all, they’ll be at Petit Bateau price points, ranging from $64 (for a boy’s polo shirt) to $320 (for a women’s dress). From what we’ve seen so far of the collection, it is to be (unsurprisingly) chic, and oh-so-francaise, blending the brands’ identities seamlessly.

“Our collaborations up until now [with the likes of French brands like Robert Clergerie, Zespa, L’Amyand] were often associated with a collection and a specific narrative, but the line we have developed together with Petit Bateau goes far beyond that,” Carven creative director Guillaume Henry told the trade. “It’s no longer a story linked to a collection; it’s a story of shared values.”

“We tried to define the Carven wardrobe through a few emblematic volumes,” he added. “It’s always about that mix between two extremes–both seductive and demure.”

To that end, the two pieces we’ve seen so far–a simple collared dickie and a form-fitting cotton dress with crisp white collar–are pure Carven. And they’re totally sexy, despite being rather buttoned up.

The only bummer about this collaboration is that while it will debut on Nov. 5 at Colette in Paris and 10 Corso Como in Milan, and then make it’s way to as-yet-unnamed boutiques in London and Brussels, it likely won’t hit stores this side of the pond until December 5, when it becomes available in 240 Petit Bateau points of sale worldwide. Still, we have a feeling it’ll be worth the wait.
