The Clothes: Bold, colorful and structured. Signature Lam. The colors–dark greens and yellows, rich blues, deep reds–and stiff fabrics gave the collection a surprisingly autumn feel, which is interesting considering Lam’s fall 2012 collection was filled with spring-like light tones and florals. Lam’s starting point was painter Barkley Hendricks’series of portraits titled “Birth of the cool.” Highlights were well-tailored leather crop tops and pleated dresses, intriguing macrame tops and skirts, statement-making trench coats, and metallic pencil skirts paired with easygoing short-sleeve sweatshirts. Just about every look, styled by Lam’s go-to Elissa Santisi, looked tailor-made for cool, high-profile editors and street style subjects.
The Hair & Makeup: Hair was sleek, long and parted down the side. Models wore shimmery silver eyeshadow.
The Soundtrack: Trance-y.
The Vibe: Intense. The space was huge and industrial.
The Front Row: Harley Viera Newton, Jenna Lyons, Anna Dello Russo, Carine Roitfeld, Cathy Horyn, Scott and Garance, Robbie Meyers
Celebrity We’d Most Like to See Wearing this Collection: Zoe Saldana or Kristen Stewart
WTF Moment: Joan Smalls closing the show in a crazy lasercut foil paillette dress. (WTF in a good way)
