What the line sheet said: “Some fairy tales end with the girl marrying the prince…some start there…With the polish of a princess and the heart of a gypsy, she fantasizes about a life less structured, about sunsets unseen and deserts in the distance.”
The Clothes: So it would seem that the “girl” inspiring Diane von Furstenberg’s spring 2013 is Diane herself. The collection was titled “Palazzo”–a starting point for a collection which sees our princess travel from Rome to Marrakesh in palazzo pants (of course), printed jumpsuits, crepe tunics over pants, caftan-like gowns, and all of it in bold colors (peach, red, navy, aqua, yellow, lime green), prints, and with lots of shimmer and sequins. (She is a princess, after all).
But the unmissable star (distraction?) of the collection were the Glass by Google goggles on everyone from the models, to Diane von Furstenberg, to Google co-founder Sergey Brin. Whether you loved ‘em or hated ‘em, you have to hand it to Von Furstenberg for embracing technology and change and always blazing a trail.
The Hair & Makeup: Fresh faced, hair down–sleek and sexy.
The Soundtrack: A techno disco mashup with some Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones thrown in.
The Vibe: Glamorous. Mirrored lips hung from the ceiling, twisting and turning and twinkling, fitting for that star studded front row.
The Front Row: Sarah Jessica Parker, Oscar de la Renta, Andy Cohen, Barry Diller, Nicki Hilton
WTF Moment: Those Google goggles.
