The Clothes: Sporty. Sexy. Your zooming-past-tourists-on-the-NYC-sidewalks uniform. Fitted hats and visors topped off slouchy, sexy looks of soft perforated leather blazers over pleat front pants, and body suits with mesh inserts worn with jersey skirts with slits worthy of Angelina Jolie. There were fanny packs over swim suits, a healthy dose of denim, and every look was finished with stiletto sneakers.
The Hair & Makeup: Model-off-duty style–bare faced and hair down and undone.
What the Line Sheet Said: “Reflections of New York. What’s a New Yorker? Someone who’s ready for anything. Day to night, street to chic, she loves a contradiction; it defines her style. Just give her the elements, she’ll take it from there. For her, fashion is personal, an endless possibility of expression. Just like her city.”
The Soundtrack: Biggie “Hyptonize” started things off (“I put hoes in NY onto DKNY”)–so fitting–followed but a clever mash up of “99 Luftballons” by Nena with “99 Problems” by Jay-Z.
The Vibe: New York through and through. Models entered from outside against a city backdrop and walked a complicated pattern so it looked like they were navigating the city streets. And set to Jay-Z and Biggie? Just plain fun. Added bonus: Karlie Kloss’s ‘kookies’ (made with help from the geniuses behind Momofuku Milk bar) on every seat.
The Front Row: Campaign girl Ashley Greene (obvi), Holland Roden, Lianne La Havas, Kelsey Chow
WTF Moment: The girl wearing the Anna Dello Russo-esque hat that was a hand holding an apple. Wha?
Celeb We’d Most Like to See Wearing It: Ashley Greene, Karlie Kloss (lots of slit skirts to show off those legs), various CW leading ladies.
