DIY Tunes: Karaoke

Where: Michael Kors, 667 Madison Ave (at 61st St)

The Lowdown: This isn’t just some grab the mic and sing any old rendition of “Wonderwall” – your amateur singing skills will be judged by the sharp-tongued Project Runway judge and designer Michael Kors himself, plus guest celeb judges Nikki Reed, Nina Arianda and Kate Upton. Bonus points if you can get Kate Upton to Cat Daddy to your song.

Where: Opening Ceremony at the Ace Hotel, 20 West 29th St (at Broadway)
When: 6pm to 11pm
The Lowdown: OC is hitting the Ace again in a match made in hipster fashion fiend heaven. Korea is the theme this year, so naturally there’s a karaoke room – better known as a noraebang (which many of us have joyfully experienced on 32nd Street after a few too many drinks around 2am-ish). While there will be “special hosts” on hand, no mention of Simon Cowell-esque judges, so go ahead and sing (scream) your hearts out to “Don’t Stop Believing”.

Where: Alexis Bittar, 465 Broome Street
When: 6pm to 10pm
The Lowdown: Comedian and performer Bridget Everett will host an evening of karaoke and complimentary cocktails that will come in handy if you want a $50 gift card to the store. They’ve be distributed to everyone brave enough to take the mike.
