The Clothes: I always find myself wanting at least half the things I see come down the runway at an Isabel Marant show. And spring 2013 was no exception. The standard Isabel staples were there: super tight and low rise denim (some cropped, some bell bottoms, some studded, some printed); frilly ruffled mini skirts, micro-mini paisley print shirt dresses.
Marant took another dive into Americana for spring. Last season it was western wear and this season it was Elvis-inspired Hawaiian florals that gave way to shiny ’70s paisley prints on lace up mini dresses and blouses. If the printed denim and ruffled minis looked familiar, the Hawaiian floral print on tops that tied in the middle and on body suits felt fresher, a nod, perhaps, to the floral trend that’s so big on the #menswear scene.
The Hair & Makeup: Hair was down, straight and parted in the middle. Brows were strong and faces were lef natural (or at least made to look it).
The Soundtrack: Elvis, natch, then a little Rolling Stones.
The Vibe: Sexy, cool girl, comme d’hab.
