The Clothes: Leopard, floral, lace, porcelain-inspired print: It’s no secret that Just Cavalli’s ethos is of the ‘more is more’ variety. The first looks that came onto the runway were intrinsic to the brand: Mini skirts with panels of leopard and floral, roomy leopard bermuda shorts (which I was actually really feeling) paired with a floral biker jacket, a white suit–plain from the front, which had a panel of leopard down the back–leopard and floral jeans, a leopard bomber…you get the picture. Later the collection transitioned into a more sophisticated monochromatic palette with sexy lace and knit numbers. Then came the porcelain-inspired print pieces–frocks and jackets in a white and blue pattern. My favorite looks, however, were towards the end: Tie-dyed looks in bright green and blue which recalled patterns on tropical fish (and, perhaps, Proenza Schouler’s Spring 2010 collection). The final looks, on the other hand–tropical print frocks in a kaleidoscope of colors–could have been inspired by Cavalli’s pet parrot.
Hair and Makeup: The boldness of the collection was tempered by the models’ unfussy hair and makeup.
The Soundtrack: ‘Never Be Another’ by Delilah
The Vibe: Held at the beautiful Arco Della Pace (arch of peace) at the Parco Sempone.
The Front Row: Solange! Unfortunately, however, the girl-about-town was refusing all pictures and interviews. Azealia Banks was there, too.
