The Clothes: The Marni girl grew up for Spring 2013. The show opened with a series of checked looks, which were pure Marni: a clash of overblown off-beat prints and a flared skirt and roomy shirt silhouette. After that, though, the collection veered into new territory for the house: Sedate, even minimalist looks in mostly stark white or black. Some of the standouts included a glossy embossed full croc outfit, and a forest green leather tunic paired with a pink skirt. Three bright floral looks were sprinkled in the middle and the show closed with two geometric-printed coats and skirts and finally: a shaggy, sparkly black coat, and shiny, brocade frocks.
The Hair and Makeup: Minimal makeup, hair parted on the side and pulled back into a low, messy bun.
The Soundtrack: ‘I Put a Spell On You’ by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins
The Vibe: Buzzy, and since it was an early-ish show (10:30), Italian waiters handed out espressos to the growing crowd.
