Meet Chloe Norgaard, the Model with the Most Buzzed About Hair at NYFW

Bright colors weren’t confined to just the textiles and prints at Marimekko. While backstage, I saw a model with the most glorious mane of neon rainbow hair. Check it out below–doesn’t her hair make you want to pet her head like a My Little Pony tail? (I mean this in the least creepy way possible.)

This model–who could be one of Rainbow Brite’s minions–is Chloe Norgaard, who’s signed with One Model Management. She walked the Nicole Miller runway, where her hair matched the electro-digital “No Batteries Included”-named collection. At Marimekko, she opened the show, with her hair complementing the rambunctious, bouncy prints. She’s been photographed by Terry Richardson, has already inspired a Tumblr, and also maintains her own page and Twitter account. (Hey, Coco Rocha: looks like those branding get-togethers you’ve been having for models have been making an impact.)

This model of the multi-hued mane walked out on the Marimekko runway to murmurs and an audible gasp from my seatmate. Her fellow models at Marimekko were gazing at her hair in admiration and I even saw Carol Alt sidle up to her and ask, “So, I hear you do your hair yourself.” Naturally, I had to find out the details and learned that Norgaard is actually a natural brunette and has been bleaching her hair “forever.” And yes, she did indeed color her hair herself, with the help of a few friends. The dye for the green strands was Manic Panic. The rest of the rainbow strands were dyed using Beyond the Zone’s semi-permanent Color Jamz.

So there you go: the secret to rainbow hair. Makes Charlotte Free’s pink strands seem tame by comparison, doesn’t it?
