Michelle Obama nailed her DNC speech. (If you didn't watch, check it out below. It was truly inspiring--I know I'm not the only one who teared up.) And as usual, she nailed it with her outfit as well.

She wore a silk jacquard printed dress by Tracy Reese, a designer she's worn several times before. The designer tweeted, "Thanks everyone for sharing this amazing moment! We are all so grateful and honored to have dressed Mrs. Obama for such a momentous speech!!" According to reports on twitter, the FLOTUS capped off her look with J.Crew's $245 Everly pumps (you can buy them here, but not for long, I'm sure). Pairing designer pieces (especially emerging American designer pieces) with high street pieces has become a hallmark of Mrs. O's accessible style.

When reached for comment over email, Reese told us that she was "moved to tears by Mrs Obama's amazing speech." "I knew she was speaking from her heart and she touched mine," she said. "As always I couldn't be more proud to have the opportunity to dress her."

Many of the designers Obama has worn over her four years in office, designers who have benefited from the name-awareness she's given them, tweeted their support: "Wow amazing speech Michelle Obama. Historic." Thakoon Panichgul tweeted; "If we had a better half like @MichelleObama we would all strive to do better n do right.Hats of to you FLOTUS n I vote 4 U @BarackObama #DNC," wrote Prabal Gurung; and Diane von Furstenberg put it simply, "Our First Lady is Spectacular."

Reese and J.Crew will no doubt receive a boost--both in sales and name recognition--following tonight's speech. And just in time for fashion week, too, which kicks off Thursday (Reese shows on Sunday September 9, J.Crew on Tuesday, September 11). Talk about a confidence booster. "In the midst of fashion week preparations, seeing the First Lady in one of my designs was a truly extraordinary moment," Reese said. "She evokes so much confidence, strength and humility."

And to answer all those tweets inquiring where one can buy the Tracy Reese dress Michelle Obama wore, Reese's PR assures us that they are talking to production and to check tracyreese.com for updates.
