The Clothes: Your wardrobe for the coolest motocross in the desert (there were light "Bedouin tops" with drape-y hoods attached and big oversized to-the-knee "Dakar shorts" in leather). Lots of light layers--blazers, striped button downs, trenches, perforated leather tops, quilted vests--the specialty of designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright and man does Vanessa Reid know how to style them. Flashes of kelly green (in cracked leather), blue, and coral added punch to a more subdued desert palette of whites, blacks and tans. (Style.com explains the desert theme came Wainwright's fascination with the Paris–Dakar rally.) Oh and about those shades? They're a new collab with Oakley.

The Hair & Makeup: It was all about 90s minimalism above the neck at Rag & Bone. Gucci Westman (for Revlon) went for androgyny via strong straight brows and said she was inspired by "90s Linda and Christy--those really honest straight forward [pictures] with scrubbed clean skin." [Ed. note: How fitting, then, that Christy was in the front row!] Warm blush and some freckles on the nose (eyebrow pencil!) finished the look. Guido Palau (for Redken) did a version of the wet in front/dry in the back hair style that was everywhere last spring. He applied Redken Hardwear 16 with his fingers to the front of the hair then sprayed Forceful 23--an industrial strength hair spray--while blow drying at the same time. "I want it really helmet like," he said. On the way out of the backstage area we overheard a panicked cry of "The hair is DROPPING because of this heat!"

The Soundtrack: An original score, as usual, by Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich. Super cool, super moody, electronic.

The Vibe: The chicest sweat lodge I've ever been to (well following Lanvin's spring 2012 show where someone apparently fainted from the heat). The space was raw and industrial. It was cement-floored space attached to the post office at 33rd and 8th Ave. with an awesome glass and steel-beamed roof.

The Front Row: Anna Wintour, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Christy Turlington, Hailee Steinfeld

Celebrity We'd Most Like to See Wearing this Collection: Any model (but we can especially see Miranda Kerr in most of this).

WTF Moment: Christy Turlington sitting in front of me, looking more beautiful than ever, and somehow not sweating at all.
