Stefano Pilati, who presented his final collection as the creative director of YSL last March (he's since been succeeded by Hedi Slimane), has a new gig.

It's just been announced that Italian fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna has tapped Pilati as its head of design, and also as creative director of Zegna's womenswear counterpart, Agnona, WWD is reporting.

So what will Pilati be doing for the menswear label? Well, not just menswear for one. Yes, he'll be running Zegna's storied menswear line, including its fashion show and that Zegna's Couture collection. But he's also charged with amping up Zegna's womenswear label, Agnona.

”I’m thrilled to have Stefano in our group as he brings great talent, invaluable experience and enormous enthusiasm,” Gildo Zegna, chief executive officer of the Zegna Group, told WWD. “We have ambitious plans for Agnona, and we strongly believe that under his creative leadership we will be able to develop this little jewel into a global brand.” Zegna's top brass also believes Pilati will help amp up the brand's fashion cred.

Pilati officially starts on January 1, 2013, which gives him the fall to get settled, size up his competition in Italy, and start designing. He'll show his first mesnwear collection for Zegna in June, as well as a cruise collection for Agnona around the same time.

While Pilati hasn't issued a statement yet, WWD cites sources as saying the designer "was attracted to Zegna for its savoir-faire with elite fabrics like alpaca and vicuna, and its manufacturing prowess."

Time to commit the name "Agnona" to memory...
