Celine Does Relaxed Luxury for Spring 2013

If Raf Simons and Hedi Slimane have a third opponent in their minimalist "rivalry," it would have to be Phoebe Philo. We won't know until later today what Slimane has in store, but how did Philo's latest collection, which she showed yesterday, stack up against Simons's for Dior?

If Raf Simons and Hedi Slimane have a third opponent in their minimalist "rivalry," it would have to be Phoebe Philo. We won't know until later today what Slimane has in store, but how did Philo's latest collection, which she showed yesterday, stack up against Simons's for Dior?

Her offerings were just as sleek and luxurious but a little less sexy and a little more casual. And, at times, like when we looked down at the models' feet, a little confusing.

Furry footwear aside, we fell hard for the shiny, smooth satins that made up almost the whole collection in flowy pants and blouses, super chic knotted capes and slip dresses. The latter did get a little sexy and boudoir-esque towards the end (in fact we think we spotted a nip slip in slide 27). Philo's show started out like Simons'--with suits--but Philo's, while chic and sharply tailored, were boxier, cropped and fall Prada-esque.

Overall, Philo sent out another perfectly relaxed and undone, yet ridiculously and effortlessly chic collection that felt modern and innovative. Who could ask for more? Click through for the full collection.
