I've never really subscribed to the idea of retail therapy--my bummer days generally evolve into some sort of DIY home improvement project. But things really took a turn for the wardrobe this weekend when I aimlessly wandered (ok, I totally knew where I was going) into Anthropologie looking for a pick-me-up of the housewares kind, and instead wound up making the best dress purchase I've made in recent history.
No but really--this LBD has it all. It's unique: Who needs a collar when you can have negative space in the shape of a collar (no sarcasm whatsoever)? It's flattering: This baby fits my bod within an inch of its life--slimming and not at all clingy. (Honestly, it looks better on me than on the model and that rarely happens). It's multi-occasion appropriate: I bought this dress with optimistic visions of the perfect first date, then wound up whipping it out for dancing with the gal pals into the wee hours of Saturday night. Add tights and it works for work; pair with flats for a fancy feast with the fam. Honestly, I think I'd even wear this dress to a funeral. I mean, it is black, right?
