Carine Roitfeld Trademarked a Fragrance Name
So it seems Carine Roitfeld really is launching a fragrance. Though we were wrong about what it will be called. (So weird it wasn’t ZEX or CR One, right?).

Carine Roitfeld is reportedly launching a fragrance. But what should she name it?
We have some suggestions.
As Hurricane Sandy moves on and New Yorkers are left to clean up the city, the full extent of the damage is becoming increasingly clear. One particularly hard hit area, at least fiscally, was retail, both in the city and beyond as stores were forced to close their doors to brace for the storm. And now reports of looting are starting to surface.
Last night, before Hurricane Sandy hit and devastated the North East and Mid-Atlantic regions, American Apparel sent out an email blast to promote a special sale available to customers in states on Sandy’s path (Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland). “20% off everything for the next 36 hours” the sale touted, “in case you’re bored during the storm.”
Almost immediately, there was a small backlash on Twitter. We reached out to American Apparel for a response. Here’s what the retailer had to say:
Looks like Robert Pattinson’s on-again flame, Kristen Stewart, won’t be the only member of the couple fronting a luxury fragrance. The Twilight star just snagged himself a multi-year deal with Dior, E! is reporting.
Lady Gaga is teaming up with Terry Richardson again, this time on a line of fizzy drinks. Pop Water brought on Uncle Terry as the creative director and Gaga to be the face. Coincidentally, the CEO is Gaga’s manager… {THR}
Brad Kroenig might be super hot, but even he can be upstaged by an adorable kid–in this case, his son Hudson, who pops into an interview to talk about walking for Chanel. {The Cut}
The Kate Middleton nude photo scandal is far from over, with the photographer responsible set to be arrested by French officials. {HuffPo}
Kim Kardashian never wants Halloween to end, apparently. After dressing up as a golden-haired mermaid this weekend, rumor has it she wants to dye her own locks blonde. {US Weekly}
A few weeks ago Diego Della Valle, the Italian businessman who’s relaunching the Schiaparelli label, annoucned that he’d name a designer “soon.” Well, it looks like “soon” just turned to “later,” according to WWD.
Farida Khelfa, who’s a spokeswoman for the label, told editors at a luncheon in Paris that the first Schiaparelli show will be in “June or July.” The first show had been tentatively planned for January, so that’s a pretty significant delay. The reason?
Hi guys. We’re all ok–though half of us have no power.
Hoping everyone is safe and sound today. We’ll be posting a bit later on.
A few years ago my mother turned me onto cashmere socks and I’ve been obsessed with them ever since. I have to admit I was skeptical at first: I mean how much difference could cashmere really make when it comes to socks? Well, I’m here to report, that they completely change the game.
Hurricane Sandy is upon us–but the fashion industry isn’t letting this Frankenstorm bring them down.
We checked in with some of our favorite people in the industry–from The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine to Kelly Cutrone to DKNY PR Girl Aliza Licht–to find out how they prepped for tonight’s storm. For an industry that’s supposed to shun carbs we are collectively loaded up on them–as well as candy, nail polish, and fashion mags to read by scented candle light.

And above all, everybody stay safe!!
There’s a lot of legend surrounding the work and life of Alexander “Lee” McQueen–this is the man who claimed to have written obscenities in the coats of Prince Charles, after all! (Total rumor, by the way.)
Alexander McQueen: The Life and the Legacy, out October 30, is more of an examination of McQueen’s entire body of work and the inspiration behind it than a biography. We caught up with the author, Judith Watt, Head of Fashion History at Central Saint Martins, to chat about what she learned about McQueen while writing the book and what she hopes people will learn about the man behind the legend.
Don’t get us wrong. We love Zara. They boil down trends as soon as they leave the runways and whip out their own version at a price point we can afford. But sometimes this fast fashion giant “interprets” designs a bit too literally.
Case in point: This necklace, which has been in Fenton/Fallon’s “Fallon Classiques” collection on and off since 2008.
