Rachel Zoe is Developing a Scripted TV Show About Her Life

Tyra Banks isn't the only fashion mogul/reality TV star getting an autobiographical sitcom. On the heels of news that Banks is developing Fivehead, an ABC show about her teen years, comes news that Rachel Zoe is embarking upon a similar path. The as yet unnamed show will be a half-hour single camera comedy based on Zoe's life and will air on NBC, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Both Zoe and her husband Rodger Berman are on board as executive producers, along with Aseem Batra (Animal Practice, Scrubs) who will also write the pilot. Todd Holland (30 Rock, Go On) is attached to direct.

It's not all that surprising. Back in February, we learned that Rachel (who, like Tyra, has an executive producer credit at her reality show), had launched her own television production company, Rachel Zoe Productions. That didn't make much sense at the time but now it sure does.

Sounds like Zoe's going to be pretty busy. She's already announced that The Rachel Zoe Project is coming back for a fifth season--a show which now follows her through two careers, styling and designing. Perhaps season five will focus on her TV production career. A reality show about someone creating a show about their life? How meta.

So now for the fun part: speculation on who should play Rachel. Thoughts? I always thought she looked a little like Sarah Michelle Gellar. How about Rodger? Brad?

Also: will this work? Aren't people already tired of "I die" and "Bananas?" THR described the show as "semi-autobiographical" so it may not literally be about Rachel and that might be a good thing.
