The Chanel hula hoop bag may have been the most talked about accessory to hit the runway this season. After seeing it, many wondered--why is it so big? Does it fold out into a bicycle? Can it be used as a chic lean-to in inclement weather? Well, Karl Lagerfeld himself decided to clear the issue up.
Speaking in a video interview with the Telegraph Lagerfeld said:
[The bag is] for the beach! You need space for the beach towel. Then you can put it into the sand and hang things on it.
Put a Chanel bag in the sand?? I have a small Chanel bag that I'm afraid to take out of the dust bag, let alone stick in the sand. But we'll be on the lookout for celebs in St. Tropez toting this bag to the beach.
Karl also talks about how he didn't put any of the traditional Chanel buttons or camellias on any of the pieces in this collection--in fact, the bathing suit shown with the hula hoop bag is the only thing that had a logo on it (well, except for the hair pearls).
