When Barneys announced that it was collaborating with Disney on a high-fashion animated fantasy film for its holiday windows, it resulted in a lot of outrage (and even petitions) because the short and rather squat Minnie Mouse was being transformed into an improbably svelte Lanvin model. The luxury retailer is finally unveiling the windows this Wednesday, and Minnie isn't the only one who got an animated make-over.

WWD got a sneak peek of the kurfuffle-causing animated short, "Electric Holiday." And it actually sounds completely charming, Minnie's extreme diet notwithstanding.

The movie features Minnie Mouse staring longingly at a Lanvin dress in Barneys' windows (I mean, we've all been there, right?) and it turns into a fantasy (thanks to some fairy dust from Tinkerbell) whereby she is transported to a fashion show, where all our favorite fashion characters get the Disney animation treatment. Pat McGrath and Guido Palau take care of Minnie's hair and makeup, Steven Meisel and Juergen Teller fight to snap her picture, and a host of fashion editors, models, and designers all make cameos in the film. Watch a preview here.

We think the Disney animators did a pretty bang-up job capturing the essence of everyone. Click through to see how Nicolas Ghesquière, Carine Roitfeld, Cathy Horyn, Bryanboy and Anna Dello Russo look as Disney characters. (For some of these, it isn't such a stretch to imagine them as cartoons, is it?)
