Saint Laurent just got the ultimate rock n' roll endorsement: A spokesperson for the brand confirmed that Keith Richards, the very essence of badass-ness, wore custom Saint Laurent pieces on stage this month.
In fact--Hedi Slimane designed the scarf and waistcoat (pictured left) specially for the Rolling Stone.
And Richards isn't the only style icon who's taken a shine to Slimane's rock-glam duds: Kate Moss has been spotted wearing little else at her recent press events. She especially seems to have taken a liking to Saint Laurent's new duffle, the same bag Gwyneth Paltrow toted back in September (before it even hit the runway). And when a bag is seen on the arms of style influencers like Moss and Paltrow, it's "it-bag" status seems inevitable. (Or, wait, has that happened already?)
That's the thing: With the support of trend-setting stars like Moss and Richards, it may not even matter what critics thought of Hedi's debut collection at Saint Laurent (namely, that it was a disappointment). The 'cool factor' conferred by these famous clients, which Slimane is clearly cultivating, may be all it takes to endear the brand to a younger (or in the case of Richards--older? Undying? Undead?), accessories-hungry consumer who wants to dress just like Kate Moss or Gwyneth Paltrow, or early Slimane for YSL fan, Lady Gaga.
