The famed Pirelli calendar, a tradition dating back to 1964, was unveiled today in Brazil--the setting for this year's calendar shot by photojournalist Steve McCurry.

For a calendar that's become famous for its steamy nudes and titillating full-frontals, McCurry's work is definitely a departure. In an effort to make this year's "a 'calendar of the soul,'" McCurry kept all the women clothed--which leaves viewers to focus on more important things, like the NGOs and humanitarian projects each model is supporting.

But while 2013 definitely has a different vibe than recent scantily-clad years, it's not as much a departure from the Pirelli legacy as you might think. Begun in 1964, the calendar started out rather chaste, evolving over the years to include more and more skin exposure--with some weird exceptions along the way. Like, for instance, 1988's calendar, shot by Barry Lategan, which saw one model dressed in a tire print body suit in a scene that looks straight out of a Dali painting.

Click through for highlights from the calendar from every year since 1964 until now. They're full of beautiful women and exotic locales--and sometimes a tire tread or two.

Oh, and lots and lots of T&A. (Seriously. LOTS. We warned you.)
