Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2013: Hitchcock Meets Cry Baby

Michael Kors has always had an “itch for the Hitch” as evidenced by the omnipresence of Tippis in boxy jackets, Graces in “New Look” skirts, and Kims in icy balmacaans at his recent runway shows.

Michael Kors has always had an “itch for the Hitch” as evidenced by the omnipresence of Tippis in boxy jackets, Graces in “New Look” skirts, and Kims in icy balmacaans at his recent runway shows.

For Pre-Fall 2013 his gals got just a little bit badder (even a touch madder?) indicating that he may have added a sinister twist of John Waters to his love of all things Hitchcockian.

This mid-century mash-up seems to pose the question, “What if Vertigo’s Madeleine began hanging out with those no-good delinquents from Cry-Baby?” Well as Kors intuits, she’d probably start donning her white winkle-picker pumps far past Labor Day, and flirting with waxy, bad-girl moto-leather in order to add a wink of perverse to her prim. No doubt, she’d stir up all sorts of trouble in sheer lace skirts, off-the-shoulder pin-up sweaters, and pink dyed-fur stoles. A “Divine” case of Female Trouble indeed.
