Riccardo Tisci Taps Friends Kate Moss, Marina Abramovic and More for Givenchy's Spring 2013 Campaign

In lieu of casting supermodels like Gisele and Stella Tennant, as he's done in past seasons, designer Riccardo Tisci enlisted the help of his friends to front his spring campaign. Though when you've got friends like Tisci's, who needs campaign models?

Givenchy's Spring 2013 ads feature some unlikely new faces.

In lieu of casting supermodels like Gisele and Stella Tennant, as he's done in past seasons, designer Riccardo Tisci enlisted the help of his friends to front his spring campaign, WWD is reporting.

Though when you've got friends like Tisci's, who needs campaign models?

Among some of the famous names who will be featured in the campaign are models Kate Moss, Mariacarla Boscono and Francisco Peralta, artists Marina Abramovic and Jared Buckhiester and torero Jose Maria Manzanares--all of whom (except Givenchy mainstay Boscono) are first-time faces for the brand.

"They are people I love and who love me," Tisci said. Aw.

"It's about family — something that is difficult to find in today’s world," he continued. "It's about real people, only taking the best of their personalities, with no effort."

And perhaps it's also a kind of push back to the rapidly expanding, increasingly commercial and impersonal fashion industry.

To that end, the campaign models, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and styled by Carine Roitfeld, all sport natural-looking hair and makeup.

The women's campaign will break in Vogue Paris in late January, while the men's spots will roll out a little earlier, breaking in L’Uomo Vogue in early January.
