It really is Stella McCartney’s year.
She designed the Team GB Olympic uniforms, dressed just about every major celeb, including Kate Middleton, and took home both Designer of the Year and Designer Brand of the Year at the British Fashion Awards.
So, when you think about it, it’s not much of a shock that McCartney came out on top in Google’s annual Zeitgeist list for fashion terms in the UK. The list measures the fastest growing Google search terms by UK users throughout the year, rather than largest volume of searches.
We don’t even need to talk about why Karl Lagerfeld is on the list, but Victoria’s Secret, who came in third, is interesting in that it’s the only American brand. The brand has been growing its presence in the UK–it opened its first stores there this year and will air the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show there for the first time later this month. Clearly, the Angels have piqued their interest.
Burberry’s presence on the list is no surprise. Neither is Alice Temperley, nor LK Bennett–both rapidly growing British labels beloved by Kate Middleton.
