Tory Burch vs. Chris Burch
The year’s ickiest fashion beef has been between ex-spouses Tory and Chris Burch. It began when Chris Burch opened his retail concept, C. Wonder, which had obvious aesthetic similarities to Tory’s namesake brand–which Chris had also helped launch. Rumor had it Tory was planning to sue Chris, until, in a plot twist, Chris sued Tory for breach of contract and tortious interference. Tory filed counterclaims, including accusations that Chris is witholding documents that prove he ripped off Tory’s brand. This is one “drunken WASP fest” that just makes us feel umcomf. We’re sure Tory will continue to handle it all with poise and grace.
