Textured Nails:
Nail art got 3-D this year. Glitter and crackle was no longer enough for the insatiable hordes who are obsessed with new nail polish gimmicks (yes, we are often in this group). Ciate’s caviar nail kit brought it to the masses (even though DIY nail artists have been doing it for a while). Then came velvet, sequins, and anything else we could manage to stick to our tips. It even showed up on the runway, most notably the Rodarte basket weave nails.
Verdict: While people probably won’t be flocking their nails 10 years from now, we think nail art in general still has legs. However, we do smell a bit of a nail art backlash–the runways have been full of nude nails for several seasons. They seem refreshing amidst all the glitter now.
