We’ve spilled a lot of (virtual) ink documenting all the modeling dramas this year. In the past 12 months there have been weight debates ranging from Karlie Kloss’ missing ribs to Kate Upton’s voluptuous appeal, and even a Vogue health initiative to prevent the use of underage models. Trysts and heartbreak involving Justin Bieber and One Direction (allegedly) heated up our news feed, and the Liberty Ross/Kristen Stewart love triangle gave Ross the comback of the year. Two newsworthy model haircuts added to the excitement. Phew! (You know it’s been an eventful year when Kate Moss’s 2012 looks tame compared to what some other girls have been up to.)

Not all the models who made headlines in 2012 did it in such a tabloid manner, though. Catwalkers like Kati Nescher, Joan Smalls, Liu Wen, and Nadja Bender appeared in countless magazines and ad campaigns, becoming hot commodities in the process.
