If you didn’t unwrap a box of brand new shearling-lined booties this December 25th, consider yourself a rarity: In spite of some rough financial times as recent as last year, Uggs have somehow managed to top the list of the most searched-for presents in 2012. It seems street style affects mainstream fashion just a bit less than The Sartorialist would like us to believe.
According to data agency Experian Marketing Services (via Refinery29), Ugg brand managed to beat out hot holiday commodities like Kindle Fire, iPad, Beats by Dre headphones, and even Barbie to score the top spot under America’s Christmas trees (and Chanukah bushes. Can’t forget those). So maybe lining up outside the Ugg store has become some sort of yearly tradition?
We’ll just add this to our growing list of reasons why uncompensated Uggs spokesperson Andre Leon Talley is most definitely moonlighting as Santa Claus.
